Our Philosophy

Tired of flat muscled fine boned cattle, we sure are.  After years of trying to breed cattle based on pictures of bulls with great looking EPD scores we have learned its far more profitable to look at the cows that produce these bulls to find those cows with muscle, bone and great feet. We also don’t spend as much time with EPD’s as we do looking for bulls with smooth front shoulders.  While EPD’s show birth weight they do not help much when it comes to calving easy.  If we have to choose we would rather have a heifer with a long heavy calf that came easy vs a short 65 lb calf that we had to pull.

Performance is a big part of what we do here.  We raise cattle that are attractive on a strong foot, good structure and full of red meat.  We achieve this through AI and embryo transfer.  When it comes to sire selection we try to find those good bulls that not a lot of others are using.  It keeps our pedigrees fresh and the Angus breed has had a few problems over the years with everyone using the same bulls from the same herd.

A tremendous daughter of Leachman Right Time. The Pathfinder granddam also produced Baldridge Oscar. While at ONeils SO42 produced a $7,000 son going to Aylwin Kissner of Minnesota. Her 2012 daughter is the high weaning and yearling female and the highest combination of ribeye and marbling in the 2012 ONeill heifer calf crop. 2015 heifer was our top yearling wt.
While no longer with us her Equator daughter might be the best cow here. She has a tremendous GCC King George daughter calving in March to KF Alchemist

"Molly" Champion undefeated show heifer for Katie Chapman Reg: 17315318 full sister to the $20,000 ONeills Envious Lad. Full brothers are at Thames Angus in Mississippi, John Fagen in Iowa and the Josh Scheckel in Iowa. Flush sisters are at Pine Row in Tennessee, Schaefer Angus in Iowa, Rick Podzimek in South Dakota and Jesse Shelton of Colorado.  Molly goes back to the phenomenal Roughage Converter "72E," 7 times.

Her 2019 HF Long Shot heifer is due in Sept to MGR Treasure.  The Long Shots can be small but Molly's extreme dimension fixed that

The future looks strong

Fountains Rita Reg: AAA 19453857 This 2019 calf by our Wisconsin State Fair Champion Braxton has the 1st KF Alchemist calf. So glad I used Alchemist, now I wish I had bred more. He is exceeding all expectation of his calving easy and the calves really take off with a great look.

Fernvale Plowess 002-264 Reg: AAA +17291207 she is out of the great 002 cow, 002 also the mom of Vaclav.  Her 2018 embryos by MSFJourney and Black Granite won the Produce of Dam at the WI State Fair.  Her 2018 natural calf is a heifer by Hy-View Phantom, lots of power, the best heifer born here in 2018 and she raised the top 2021 show steer.

While 002-264 is no longer with us she left me with females by MDF Journey, 004, Hy-View Phantom, Stevenson Declaration and maybe her best daughter ONeills Expedition.

Bulls we currently use on cows:

Hy-View Phantom Reg: 16711328
He is the fix for little cattle.  Each calf we get is longer than everything else, strong top with great structure.

SMA Watch Me: 18471248
A full brother to the popular 2016 National Western Stock Show Champion SMA Watchout.  These calves have muscle, a big butt and good hair for an angus.  They are easy to spot in the pasture, they stand out.

GCC King George 650A Reg 17769354
Body, body, body. My first one will calf in 2021 and she is just fantastic.  I try to wait for a cow to have a couple calves before the 1st flush but she is just so good I'm not sure if I can wait that long.

Conley Express 7211 Reg 18941522
The bull I'm using on our big power cows for better phenotype and he is an out cross with no First Class.

HAG McK Model 1748 Reg# 19047386
More than just style, Model offers tremendous base width and substance from the ground up. His dam is a tremendous mom cow.

Bulls we currently use on our heifers:

KF Alchemist 192 AAA 19480860
The most complete 5T Power Chip son Available, a great EPD profile, a great mom cow and the calves have their sires hair and fancy pattern.  We have the first Alchemist calves and they did not disappoint.  Born on below zero temps they jumped right up and started nursing.

SAC Conversation 17808532 Reg# 17808532
These come very easy, small head with narrow body and finer bone.  He is one of the many bulls that are different than what his EPDs show.  His EPD for CE isn't good for use on heifers, but my experience says different.  I do use only sexed female semen and the heifers might be the calving difference

Fountains Vaclav 65 Reg# 16991996
See him on the front page of the web site.  Has some of the best feet and bone that I have seen on a bull in awhile and he is the flush brother to a Badger Kickoff Champion heifer

MGR Treasure Reg# 181596972
He will ad some length while still keeping the feet under em.

HF Long Shot 71D 18610758
Body, muscle and style, good looking Hot Lotto son.  They can be small but I'm having success with him on heifers from my big cows.  Now that I have a few I'm also noticing they have the best hoof structure of any bull I have used in the last ten years. I only use the sexed female semen on heifers
