History
Max and Alice Cummings bought the property on County P in Endeavor in 1932. Together they started a dairy farm and raised five children. In the late 1960's early 1970's their son John R Cummings took over the farming operations switching from dairy cattle to beef cattle.
In 1974 John's son Jack joined 4-H and started showing steers. In 1976 Jack joined the National Angus Association and purchased his first registered Angus heifer at the Wisconsin State Angus sale. Soon after Jack's sister Jennifer began to show cattle as well.
Jack and Jennifer exhibited Angus cattle that won championships at the Marquette County fair, Wisconsin Jr Livestock shows, Wisconsin State Fair and World Beef Expo. During the late 70s and early 80s they were very active in the Wisconsin Junior Angus Association, Jennifer as a Wisconsin Angus Princess and Jack as the Fund Raising Co-Chair of the 1980 National Jr Angus Show. The first National Junior Angus Show to be held in Wisconsin. That was also their first national show to exhibit at and Jennifer’s heifer was 3rd in her class. Jerry's and Jack's children have continued to show cattle at the local level at the Marquette County fair and have won Grand Champion Market steer numerous times over the years with their Angus steers.
Currently day to day operations of the farm have been turned over to Jack and his brother Jerry. Jack handles the day to day cattle operations and Jerry manages the equipment and crops.
Performance is a big part of what we are working on today. While it’s great to see how fast they can grow we want cattle that are attractive on a strong foot, good structure and full of red meat while still being easy to handle. Jack is by himself most of the time with the cows so chasing them or running from them are not options.
For the last 25 years our main area of testing has been bull tests, AHIR and Ultra Sound, now we have moved forward to Pfizer 50K DNA testing.
